Playing to your outs

"Playing to your outs" is a term from poker by way of Magic The Gathering. The idea is, when you're bound to lose, you gotta stop making sensible plays. Instead, you must identify a specific card or sequence that could still win you the game, and play as if it will come.

A big part of "Founder Energy" is recognizing when the lines aren't going to converge and "playing to your outs"—that is, playing your hand in an extremely high-risk, highly-leveraged way. You wouldn't play this way if you were winning, but when you're losing, there is no point in playing it safe.
